Are you thinking about getting married? Here's what you need to do!

So you have made the decision to get married!  Congratulations!  You’re probably currently in a flurry of wedding preparations like booking venues and photographers, organising dresses, suits, cakes and flowers, deciding which crazy uncle isn’t getting invited etc.

But there are probably a few other things you should be thinking about.

What about your will?  Or do you even have one?

Surely, if anything happened to you, you would want anything of yours to go to your soon to be husband or wife? As soon as you sign your name on a marriage certificate, any will you may already have becomes invalid unless it was made in contemplation of your marriage.

So, there are some things you need to take care of.

You need to make a will in contemplation of your marriage.

This can be done at any time before tying the knot.  If your will has been done prior to your big day, but in contemplation of your marriage, it won’t need updating once you are married.

You should probably also give some serious thought to the other legal documents that go hand in hand with a will; Enduring Power of Attorney and Enduring Guardian.

We never really want to think about these things but fortunately it’s something that can be easily taken care of.

To make things really easy for you, we have Simple Online Forms.  It only takes a few minutes to fill them in and get these things in place.

Now you’ve got all your bases covered if anything untoward were to happen to either one of you.
